Communication is often a crucial aspect in the workplace. Instructions, information and announcements are constantly being exchanged. Background noise can greatly hamper this communication. The filters of the Tympro Sound Safe and the Tympro Orange otoplastics are designed to maintain speech intelligibility, allowing users to continue communicating with their co-workers while ensuring adequate hearing protection.
Noise makes it even more challenging for users of otoplastics who need to remain constantly accessible by phone. Think of foremen or employees who are constantly receiving instructions or questions. After all, it is not desirable to take off hearing protection to make phone calls, for example. In this way, the user is once again exposed to harmful noise, resulting in hearing damage. Tympro provides some technological solutions in this context.
Pairing with the walkie-talkie
There are many people who use walkie-talkies in the workplace to communicate with their colleagues. To communicate safely amid noise, users can connect the walkie-talkie with their otoplastics via a universal air hose. Separate connectors have been designed to connect the air hose with the Tympro Sound Safe and the Tympro Orange. The filter of the otoplastics filters out noise and lets the sound from the walkie-talkie in safely.
The unique connector PR1224 was designed for the Tympro Orange. This coupling piece fits any universal air hose on one side and is installed in the place of the Orange filter on the other side. The Orange filter is then repositioned on the coupler itself. Sound coming from the walkie-talkie enters the ear canal unfiltered and clear, while ambient noise enters filtered. The coupling piece and air hose can be purchased together or separately.
With the coupling piece AR20, any universal air hose can be connected to the Tympro Sound Safe. Here, the coupling piece is placed directly on the tube filter. The advantage of this system is that it is quick and easy to connect and disconnect. The coupling piece and air hose can be purchased together or separately.
Besides the classic connection between the air hose and the walkie-talkie, other ways of connecting have also been designed. For instance, the air hose can also connect electronically to the walkie-talkie and to the smartphone via couplers. A handheld microphone can also be linked. Ask Tympro for advice on your specific situation and needs.
Pairing with bluetooth
Tympro also provides solutions where a smartphone or computer can be connected to devices linked to the otoplastics or devices that can be combined with the otoplastics. Here there are applications for listening to music and communicating cleanly in the midst of noise while hearing remains protected. At the touch of a button, your playlist starts playing or your telephone conversation begins.
This lightweight but ultra-sturdy bone conduction headset made of titanium places you on the bone right next to the ear canal. The headset's bone vibrators vibrate the bone which in turn vibrates the fluid in the cochlea. In this case, sound is transmitted via bone conduction instead of air conduction. This headset is thereby equipped with an adjustable noise-cancelling microphone. While otoplastics passively filter out harmful or disturbing ambient noise, you can continue to have crystal-clear conversations and listen to music without risk.
The Isotunes XTRA 2.0 is a set of certified earplugs that simultaneously serve as wireless in-ears. Tympro has developed a coupler that allows the XTRA 2.0 to be attached to the Sound Safe. While experiencing a passive noise reduction of 36 dB within a loud environment, the wearer can simultaneously listen to music or talk on the phone. And this in a safe way, as the SafeMax technology limits the output to 82 dB. The microphone built into the comfortable neckband focuses on speech sound and mutes loud ambient noise, allowing conversations to flow clearly. The robust design has IP67 protection (sweat, water and dust), a battery life of 11 hours in active use and 200 hours in standby mode.
The EarsOnly Protect is an ingenuity that incorporates high-tech electronics into certified custom-made hearing protection. They continuously actively scan ambient noise and allow the speakers to transmit a certain sound level depending on one of three set modes: focus, dynamic & communication. In the focus setting, a full block is deployed supported by noise reduction. In dynamic mode, the speakers simply transmit the ambient noise. Once the sound exceeds 80 dB, it is reduced to a comfortable level. Finally, in communication mode, the speakers will fully pass ambient noise to a safe limit at 80 dB. This allows communication with people near you. Bluetooth connectivity and noise cancellation allow users to make phone calls and listen to music in any sound situation while always keeping the volume down to a safe level.
Communicate unamplified
The filters of the Tympro otoplastics have been developed to allow speech understanding even for wearers who do not necessarily need to be electronically accessible. The Tympro Sound Safe and the Tympro Orange each have a specific filter that allows speech intelligibility.
Tympro Orange are professional custom-made earplugs that feature a large-surface breathable membrane filter. This attenuating membrane is designed to allow sound to pass through as naturally as possible. The natural transmission of sound benefits the understanding of complex speech sounds as there is less distortion. Several fixed attenuation levels are possible, with the selection depending on the sound environment and the need for communication.
The Tympro Sound Safe features a permeable tube filter. This means that there is still a small opening through which the sound is still let through, albeit attenuated. This has the advantage that the sound passes through naturally, resulting in less distortion and better speech intelligibility. The filter can also be set to an accuracy of half a decibel depending on the sound environment and the need for communication.
