Tympro supports Delft top team at Sasol Solar Challenge 2024
In September 2024, South Africa will host the 16th Sasol Solar Challenge. Solar car teams from around the world will take on the challenge of developing, building and ultimately driving cars powered by solar energy. The main goal is to travel from Johannesburg to Cape Town over eight days without consuming a drop of fuel. The team that covers the greatest distance within the time wins. The biggest challenges are huge altitude differences, harsh weather conditions, crowded urban areas and efficiently planning routes that are released at short notice. The solar cars must be sufficiently light, aerodynamic, efficient and safe. To this end, the teams are collaborating with tech companies, which here take the ultimate opportunity to implement and test out their innovative technologies.
The Delft Brunel Solar Team, consisting of 11 super-competent students with technical backgrounds, is taking part in the Challenge again this year with the aim of taking the title back to Delft for the 5th time in a row. In doing so, the team wants their latest solar car, the Nuna 12s, to inspire technical innovation and sustainability.
During the Challenge, the Delft solar car will be assisted by control cars providing the necessary real-time analyses (weather conditions, routes, traffic situations, etc.). Crystal-clear communication between the control team and the driver is of course indispensable for this. It is on this aspect that Tympro will do its bit. Indeed, the drivers will be equipped with a wireless and hands-free communication system. This electronic component will be anchored in the ear by means of a comfortable custom-made earpiece from Tympro. With our experience in 3D technology and our industry experience in custom-made hearing protection and earpieces for hearing aids, we can offer the highest quality and comfort in all circumstances where communication plays a crucial role.
Tympro wishes the Brunel Solar Team with its Nuna 12s the very best of luck and crystal clear communication during the Sasol Solar Challenge 2024!
